How Long Does Ground Need to Dry After Rain?

There is no universal waiting period. A site may become workable within a day after a light shower, while saturated clay in a shaded low area may need several dry days. The contractor should evaluate field conditions rather than relying only on the calendar.

Drying time depends on:

  • Rainfall amount and duration.
  • Clay, silt, sand and organic content.
  • Existing drainage and groundwater.
